This quiet corner of Bali is rich in authentic nature and culture. Spending time here is an immersive experience as the community is steeped in a traditional way of life and their connection to nature is intact. Attend temple ceremonies, walk through the village, go on hikes with the village chief, get clothes stitched from the local tailor and dive deep into an authentic side of Bali.
A popular place in the area is Pemuteran. This village located high in the northwest of Bali on the road to the port of Gilimanuk where is the only ferry connection from Bali to the neighboring Indonesian island of Java. Pemuteran is located in natural seclusion far away from the tourist centers and almost 130 kilometers from the capital city Denpasar in the south of Bali.
Pulau Menjangan, just a few kilometers off the coast near Pemuteran, is worthwhile. The marine reserve is considered one of the most beautiful diving spots off Bali.
Both Menjangan and Pemuteran, This is a true place for the very diverse and colorful underwater world. From clownfish, moray eels, batfish, eels garden, sharks, and turtles, and there are a lot more to see! Therefore Permuteran is especially for divers and snorkelers an eventful paradise.
While Gilimanuk offers muck dive. Muddy black sand, sea grasses, cans, trash, and all the weird critters are found at this dive site. This easy nice shore dive sometimes give you a surprise of cold water from the open sea that is carried by the current of Bali street into the bay. A very shallow dive that could extend your bottom time for over one hour dive!
